Etsy children’s products and CPC requirements
How Etsy sellers should decide
- Is the product designed or intended primarily for children 12 and under?
- Is it subject to a children’s product safety rule (toys, lead, etc.)?
- If yes, plan CPSC-accepted testing and a CPC before scaling paid ads.
- If you qualify, review small-batch registration carefully — it is narrow, not a blanket pass.
Marketplace reality
Etsy may not gate every listing the way Amazon does, but you remain legally responsible, and payment processors or retail partners can still ask for documents. Build the file once; reuse it across channels.

Questions people ask
Do I need a CPC for baby crochet toys?
If marketed as a children’s toy/product subject to the rules, yes — soft toys still draw small-parts, lead, and toy-standard questions. Ask a CPSC-accepted lab how they scope handmade textiles.
