If the product is designed or marketed primarily for children 12 and under, you generally need a CPC with third-party testing at a CPSC-accepted lab. Adult / general-use products under other CPSC rules use a GCC.
What to put on the GCC
- Cite applicable general wearing apparel flammability rules (e.g. 16 CFR Part 1610) (and any other applicable rules) exactly.
- Identify the product as shipped.
- Name the certifying party and US records contact.
- Include manufacture and testing details supporting conformity.
