Why Amazon rejected your CPC — and the fix

Amazon rejects children’s product certificates for a short list of predictable reasons: the certificate names the factory instead of you, the test report is missing or incomplete, the lab is not CPSC-accepted, the product details do not match the ASIN, the report omits a cited rule, the file is illegible, or the document is simply not a CPC (an origin certificate, an invoice, or a supplier’s internal report). Every one has a concrete fix.

The seven reasons, with fixes

  • Certifier is the factory, not you — regenerate the CPC in your name as importer.
  • No test report attached — upload the full report with the certificate, not the certificate alone.
  • Laboratory not CPSC-accepted for the rule — re-test or obtain the file from an accepted lab.
  • Product mismatch — the certificate’s product name, model, and age grade must match the ASIN.
  • Report omits a cited rule — remove the rule from the CPC or add the missing test.
  • Illegible scan — re-export at full resolution; Amazon reviewers must read every page.
  • Wrong document — a certificate of origin or invoice is not a CPC.

Prevent the next rejection

Keep one folder per ASIN containing the CPC, the full report, and the lab’s acceptance evidence. Generate certificates from structured fields so product names match listings exactly — free-form templates drift, and drift is what rejections measure.

Questions people ask

Can I appeal without a new test report?

Only if your existing report covers every cited rule from an accepted lab. If a rule is untested, no appeal language fixes it — book the test.

How do I know which reason applied to me?

Amazon’s rejection notice usually states a category. Match it to this list, fix that item, and re-submit once with a complete package.
