China vs US CPSC-accepted labs
Many importers test at CPSC-accepted facilities in China next to production for speed and cost, then keep a US or EU option for urgent retests. Acceptance is per facility and rule — geography alone does not make a report valid or invalid.
When China labs win
- Factory can deliver samples same week.
- Large colorway matrices are cheaper to iterate near production.
- You confirm the exact facility’s CPSC acceptance scope.
When US labs win
- You need a fast retest after an Amazon rejection.
- Samples are already in a US warehouse.
- Your TIC or broker prefers a specific report format you already validated.
Questions people ask
Are China labs “less accepted”?
No — many major networks have CPSC-accepted China facilities. Verify the facility and rule scope, not the country flag.
Can I use a factory’s existing China report?
Only if it is from an accepted lab, covers your exact product, is recent enough for your channel, and is verifiable. Shared or altered reports are a common failure mode.
