Compliance tools for Amazon UK and UK toy sellers

UK children’s toys sit under the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (EN 71 / BS EN 71). You need a Declaration of Conformity, technical file, CE or UKCA marking, and — when Amazon flags the ASIN — TIC Direct Validation through an approved provider.

Who this is for

Amazon.co.uk sellers, UK brands, and EU exporters listing into Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

What you must have on file

  • EN 71 (and EN IEC 62115 for electric toys) test evidence for the exact SKU
  • EU or UK Declaration of Conformity signed by the manufacturer / responsible person
  • CE marking (widely still accepted in GB) or UKCA where required; UKNI rules for Northern Ireland where applicable
  • Traceability: model, batch, manufacturer/importer address on the product or packaging
  • Amazon TIC / TRF workflow ready when Account Health requests Direct Validation

Where sellers in United Kingdom get stuck

  • Sending a U.S. CPC to Amazon UK — wrong regime, wrong document
  • CE mark on the box with no Declaration of Conformity on file
  • Reports that do not match the ASIN configuration (materials, age grade, colourways)
  • Assuming UKCA is always mandatory — CE remains accepted for many GB toy placements; confirm current guidance

Questions sellers ask

Does Amazon UK accept a U.S. CPC?

No. UK/EU toy compliance is EN 71 + Declaration of Conformity + marking. A CPC is a U.S. CPSIA document. Cross-list sellers usually keep both files.

What is TIC Direct Validation on Amazon UK?

For flagged children’s toy ASINs, Amazon requires an approved TIC provider to validate existing reports or test and submit results directly — you generate a TRF ID in Seller Central and hand it to the TIC.

Do UK/EU toy reports expire every year?

Unlike Amazon USA’s common ~12-month report window, UK/EU Direct Validation currently does not impose the same annual retest rule — but Amazon still requires reports that match the product and current standards. Confirm with your TIC.
