Amazon TIC Direct Validation for children’s toys

Amazon Direct Validation requires an approved Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) provider to verify your children’s toy ASIN and submit results directly to Amazon. In Seller Central you start Verify your product, pick a TIC, generate a TRF ID, and send that ID plus samples or existing reports to the provider. Self-uploading a PDF alone is no longer enough once an ASIN is in this workflow.

Which Amazon countries use Direct Validation for toys

Amazon has applied Direct Validation for children’s toys across the US, Canada, the UK, and multiple EU storefronts (including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, and Sweden). Always confirm the requirement on the ASIN in Account Health — the workflow only appears when Amazon assigns it.

What the TIC actually checks

  • The report covers the correct regional standard (ASTM F963 for USA, SOR for Canada, EN 71 for UK/EU).
  • The report matches the exact ASIN configuration: materials, age grade, colourways.
  • For USA/Canada, Amazon commonly expects reports within about the last 12 months; UK/EU Direct Validation has not imposed the same annual retest rule — confirm with your TIC.
  • If existing reports fail policy checks, the TIC will quote new testing.

How to prepare before you open the TRF

  • Gather the full lab report PDFs (not cover-page extracts) for every colourway that ships.
  • Align product name, model, and age grade with the Amazon listing.
  • For USA ASINs, issue a clean CPC that cites the same rules as the report.
  • For UK/EU ASINs, keep the Declaration of Conformity and CE/UKCA marking evidence with the EN 71 file.

Questions people ask

Do I always need new testing?

Not always. If you already have accredited reports that meet Amazon’s policy for that marketplace, the TIC may validate them. New testing is required when reports are missing, out of window, or do not match the ASIN.

Is Direct Validation the same as a CPC?

No. Direct Validation is Amazon’s marketplace verification path. A CPC is a U.S. legal certificate under CPSIA. USA sellers usually need both concepts covered: legal CPC on file, and TIC submission when Amazon demands it.

What is a TRF ID?

The Test Request Form ID generated in Seller Central after you select a TIC. The laboratory or TIC provider needs that ID to link results to your Amazon account.
