Multi-SKU component testing strategy

Component testing lets importers cover multiple SKUs when materials and hazard profiles truly match — but scope language on the report and CPC must be precise. Amazon TICs reject vague “series” certificates. Work with CPSC-accepted labs to define master components, worst-case colors, and accessory bundles before certifying ten ASINs from one report incorrectly.

When component strategy works

  • Identical materials/process, differing only non-functional colors or prints approved by lab.
  • Shared mechanical platform with size variants explicitly listed in scope.
  • Accessories tested as part of the worst-case configuration.

When to split reports

New factory, new plasticizer package, electronics added, or age grade downshift — all require new testing plans. Cheap expansion without lab sign-off is how accounts lose multiple ASINs at once.

Questions people ask

Does Amazon publish component rules?

Amazon enforces document match to listing — follow CPSC lab guidance and keep scope readable to human reviewers.

Can software replace lab sign-off?

ShadowOps organizes SKUs and CPC fields; only the lab defines acceptable component groupings.
